These columns measure the data, not the contractors. A city with more listings offers more choice; it does not have better companies. We do not rank contractors by quality. How listings are chosen.

What each column means
Listings is how many garage door companies we publish in that city. It is a measure of how much choice you have to call around, and it is driven by two things: how many companies actually operate there, and how completely the underlying open business data covers the area. A city with 8 listings is not necessarily better served than one with 5 — but you do have more numbers to ring before you accept a quote.
With address counts listings that carry a street address rather than a city only. It matters more than it looks: many garage door companies are mobile operations run from a van, and a recorded street address is often an office or a yard rather than somewhere you can visit. A high figure here means the data for that city is well filled in, not that the companies have showrooms.
With website counts listings we hold a website for. A website is where you can usually check how long a company has traded, whether it names a licence number, and whether it makes a 24/7 claim — all things worth reading before the first phone call.
Licence-verified counts listings whose licence number we matched to an active record on the California Contractors State License Board (CSLB) register. California is one of only three states that licenses garage door work as a distinct trade, so this column exists here and does not exist on most other state pages. A zero does not mean the companies are unlicensed — it means we have not matched a number yet, often because the licence is held under a different registered name.
What this table cannot tell you
Nothing here ranks contractors, and nothing here is a quality signal. We publish no ratings and no reviews, because the openly licensed dataset these listings come from contains none and the datasets that do contain them forbid republishing them. So a city at the top of this table has more companies listed, and that is the only claim being made.
Use it the way it is meant to be used: find the nearest city with a healthy number of listings, open it, and ring two or three. Then ask each of them for the price split into parts and labour, and for the spring cycle rating in writing — the two questions from our hiring checklist that do the most to reveal whether a quote is fair.
